REPRESENTATIONS OF PARALYSIS AND CYPHOSIS ON SERBIAN FRESCOPAINTINGS AT THE TIME OF TZAR STEFAN DUSAN (1331-1355) - THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN EARTHLY AND CELESTIAL REALITY
Abstract
In this paper the key point will be put on the iconography of two diseases, represented in the scenes of Christ's healings in Serbian medieval frescopainting at the time of the reign of Serbian tzar Stefan Dusan (1331-1355). They are the healing of paralytic and the healing of the hunchbacked. The present paper also depicts the way these diseases, as earthly phenomena present in common life of medieval people, were perceived as the way of explanation of ideas of Celestial world in the light of Christ economy of salvation.
